Renovation Story - Project 7 - April 21

My local Starbucks is getting a 'makeover' that was supposed to
take 10 days. The next four shots were taken over a three-week period, during which the renovation experienced numerous delays with limited work accomplished.

This is the morning they'll start the demolition.

Six hours after the previous shot, demo has begun!

Next morning, a little progress.

Partially tiled, drywall and ceiling underway,
but there are permit issues with the county
inspector and the job has been shut down.

The rest of these shots were taken in one week, progress was amazing.

Painting is complete, adding furniture and graphics.

The store is finally open for business, April 26th!

water foam swirl Starry Night
from the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art

The sheer simplicity of this image, water and foam, highlights how beauty can be found in the most mundane and unexpected places. The swirls formed on the water by the foam and possibly the breeze is just as much a piece of art as Van Gogh's "Starry Night", of which this reminds me.

collaborateur collaborator confrontation retribution
from the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art

This image tells such a powerful story. Hate seems to consume the woman on the right, who appears to be preparing to strike the woman on the left. The woman on the left wears her shame throughout, in her stance, on her face, and the ways she has clenched her thumb in her fist...
Meanwhile, most of the crowd seem to have accepted that the accused is guilty their expressions saying the procedure is taking too long.
But the visage that really leaps out at me is that of the woman near the top-right of the photo. Her gaze strikes me as one that might share the same shame as the accused woman and makes me wonder...

Project 7 Proposal

#1 "Renovation"

My local Starbucks hangout will be undergoing a renovation starting March 27th.
I'd like to document the changes thru a sequence of daily images showing the
process/progress. I plan to shoot the images each day of the renovation,
thru the doorway of the store.

#2 "Locomotion"

A storyboard of our daily travels. Showing air, bus, and train travel,
delivery drivers, railroads, bicycles, motorcycles, and all of the other modes of
 mechanical transport we use.
